01 · Fabric Care

Different fabrics need different care. Here's exactly how to treat the most common fabrics used in Shenova garments.

Cotton

Cotton & Cotton Blends

✦ Hand wash or machine wash on gentle cycle at 30°C

✦ Use mild detergent — no harsh chemicals

✦ Do not wring — gently squeeze out excess water

✦ Dry in shade, flat or on a hanger

✦ Iron on medium heat while slightly damp

Chiffon

Chiffon & Georgette

✦ Hand wash only in cold water — very gentle

✦ Use a delicate fabric detergent or baby shampoo

✦ Never wring or twist — roll in a towel to absorb water

✦ Hang dry away from direct sunlight

✦ Iron on lowest setting with a pressing cloth

Silk

Silk & Satin

✦ Dry clean recommended for pure silk

✦ If hand washing, use cold water with silk-specific detergent

✦ Never soak for more than 5 minutes

✦ Dry flat on a clean towel, out of sunlight

✦ Iron on the lowest setting, always inside-out

Rayon

Rayon & Viscose

✦ Hand wash in cold water or dry clean

✦ Rayon shrinks — never use hot water or a dryer

✦ Gently squeeze, do not wring

✦ Hang dry or lay flat — keep away from direct sun

✦ Iron on low heat while slightly damp

03 · Washing

Washing
your garment.

For most Shenova pieces, gentle hand washing is the best way to preserve colour, shape, and fabric quality.

Hand wash step by step 1. Fill a basin with cool or lukewarm water (max 30°C). 2. Add a small amount of mild detergent and mix gently. 3. Submerge the garment and swirl softly — do not scrub. 4. Rinse thoroughly with cool water until no soap remains. 5. Gently press out excess water — never wring. 6. Lay flat or hang to dry in shade.

04 · Storage

Storing your
pieces properly.

How you store your clothes is just as important as how you wash them. Good storage keeps fabric fresh and shape intact.

Hang dresses and blouses on padded or wide hangers to maintain shoulder shape and prevent creasing.

Fold Knits

Never hang knits — they stretch. Fold and store flat in a drawer or on a shelf to keep their shape.

Store off-season pieces in breathable cotton garment bags — never plastic, which traps moisture.

Use cedar blocks or lavender sachets instead of mothballs. Keeps clothes fresh without chemical odour.

05 · Ironing

Ironing &
steaming.

A steamer is always preferable to an iron for Shenova pieces — it's gentler on delicate fabrics and removes wrinkles without direct contact.

Ironing tips Always check the care label first. Iron on the lowest setting suitable for the fabric. For embroidered or embellished pieces, always iron inside-out or use a pressing cloth between the iron and the garment. Never iron directly on prints, beads, or sequins.
